Electronic Technician                    

 

Position Overview 

Southwest Electronic Energy (SWE) is an industry leader in state-of-the-art smart battery systems for industrial applications.  We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and versatile electronics engineering technician with our microprocessor based SeaSafe deep-subsea design team.       

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities to include:

  • Assembles/modifies engineering prototype systems and PCBs (expert level soldering and mechanical assembly capability)

    Tests/troubleshoots/debugs assembled PCBs and systems

    Conducts research experiments and produces professional reports 

    Evaluates lithium ion cells per engineering direction and reports results 

    Assists in component selection for new designs

    Expert in reading digital and analog schematics, BOMs and assembly drawings

    Proficiency with lab equipment used in electronics design including but not limited to Power Supplies, Electronic Loads, Oscilloscopes, Function Generators, Logic Analyzers, and Voltage and Current measuring devices

    Organizes and maintains the R&D Lab

    Takes direction from the Subsea Engineering Leads and executes independently

    Good communicator with design engineers, procurement, manufacturing, sales, customers and vendors

    Basic knowledge in the following:

    Altium CAD

    SolidWorks

    LabVIEW

    Embedded SW

    Microprocessors and Microcontrollers

    Proficiency with Windows PCs including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Project

 

Qualifications, Education, Experience

Education: Undergraduate degree or higher in Electrical Engineering is preferred.  Engineering or Industrial Distribution is also applicable

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree in an Electronics Engineer discipline with 5 years related work experience

    Subsea awareness highly desirable

    PCB layout experience desired

    IPC-610A, or equivalent, solder certification desired

    Experience working with lithium ion batteries desired, but not required.

    Experience working with shop tools and equipment (drill presses, mills, lathes) desired, but not required.
